Adding Alt Text for accessibility in PowerPoint

Incorporating Alt Text to visuals is a helpful way to guide screen readers through a document, and it’s easy to add! 

To add Alt Text to images:

  1. Select the image you'd like to add Alt Text
  2. Under the Picture Format tab at the top
  3. Click on Alt Text option


  4. Add the Alt Text to the text box

Mac users: Alt Text tags can only be preserved when using PowerPoint for the web.

  1. Upload PowerPoint file to OneDrive
  2. Go to powerpoint.office.com
  3. Open the PowerPoint file you’d like to export
  4. Go to File, Save as
  5. Select Document as a PDF
