Image resolution determines the quality and detail an image will have. The higher the image resolution, the more detail an image will be able to produce. If images are enlarged and look blurry and/or pixelated, it could be that your image resolution is low.
The right resolution will depend on the media in which the image will be used. If the image will be used for the web, resolution must be at minimum 72 DPI. If the image will be used for print, resolution must be at least 300 DPI.
